I SEE !

The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord" (John 21: 7).

Some of our friends have a habit of playing a game called "I see" with their children. If a family member sees a work of God around him, he will cry out, "I see!" God's work can be a beautiful sunset or special blessings. All of these experiences remind them of God's presence in this world and in their lives.

The game reminds me of Jesus' disciples and their fruitless fishing effort in John 21:1-7. Early in the morning, in the fog they saw a man standing on the shore, but they did not know that it was Jesus." My children, do you have any side dishes?" asked Jesus. "No," they answered. "Cast your net on the starboard side of the boat," he said, "and you will catch fish." They obeyed Him and their nets were so full of fish that they could not pull them out. "It's God!" shouted John. It was one of the "I saw" events, and John, the "disciple whom Jesus loved", was the first to recognize Jesus.

Ask God to give you eyes that can "see" Jesus, whether in extraordinary situations or in everyday activities. If you pay attention, you will see His hands at work while others see nothing. Try playing "I see" now and allow God's presence to reassure you of His love and care --David Roper
