WHO IS BEAUTIFUL?

Charm is a lie and beauty is vain, but a God-fearing wife is praised (Proverbs 31:30)

In his book Who Calls Me Beautiful? (Who Calls Me Beautiful?), Regina Franklin observed that in 1951 the Swedish Princess was 167.5 centimeters tall and weighed 67.95 kilograms. However, the 1983 Princess of Sweden, 5 centimeters taller and 20.25 kilograms lighter. Beauty requirements for one generation do not seem to be used as a measure for the next generation.

In Genesis 24:16, it says that Rebekah "was very beautiful in appearance". But physical beauty was not an important mark for Eliezer, Abraham's servant who was sent to get a wife for Isaac.

Eliezer's prayer gives us important clues about the beauty he seeks for his master's son: “Let it be so: daughter, to whom I said, 'Please let me drink,' and who answered, 'Drink, and your camels too. I will give him a drink-it is he whom You have appointed for Your servant, Isaac ”(verse 14).

Reasonable manners may have prompted Rebekah to provide foreigners with drinking water, but watering camels is a completely different matter. Ten thirsty camels can drink up to 798 liters. Obviously, Rebekah had the heart of a servant.

The Bible says that Rebekah was a beautiful girl. But the Bible also says much more about the beauty of her character. "Charm is a lie and beauty is vain, but a wife who fears the Lord is praised" (Proverbs 31:30) -AL
