THE TRUTH THAT CHANGES

This was the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he had risen from the dead (John 21:14).

The truth remains the truth even if the truth does not directly impact our lives. However, God's righteousness will not only open the doors of heaven for us, but will also change our lives.

Ron Sider, the famous evangelist who defends the poor, tells of his conversation with Wolfhart Pannenberg, a German theologian. When they discussed the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, the theologian said, "The evidence for Jesus' resurrection is so strong that no one will question it, except for two things: First, this resurrection was an extraordinary event or secondly, if we believe what has happened, so we must really change the way we live."

The sentence above is really full of challenges. If we believe that Jesus was resurrected, then this belief commands us to change lives. Peter's life changed drastically when he witnessed the Lord's resurrection. From a hard-hearted disciple, who denied that he knew God when Jesus was arrested, he turned into a bold witness for God (John 18:17,25,27; Acts 2:14-36).

Has the Lord's resurrection changed your life? Have your goals and priorities been different from what they were? Have you become kinder, more patient, and more forgiving? Ask God for guidance on what He wants you to do, then work with Him to make that change --VCG
