God's loyal love is endless, his mercy is unending (Lamentations 3:22)
When London's red Routemaster double-decker buses were pulled from regular service in December 2005, many people felt lost. Routemaster has been providing reliable service for 51 years, and has become very popular with Londoners as well as tourists because people can easily jump on or off the buses. Some of the old buses are still operating on Heritage's two tourist routes, but in other parts of the city, they have disappeared.
Many of the changes in life we feel are lost, whether they are as small as a memory of a pleasant bus or as big as a broken family home, a dream of unfulfilled success, or the death of a loved one. In every loss, we long for a touch of healing and hope.
The Book of Lamentations is referred to as a "city burial" book. In it, the prophet Jeremiah mourned his people who were taken captive by the enemy and the destruction of the city of Jerusalem. However, in the midst of the sadness he felt, there was comfort because of God's faithfulness, "God's steadfast love never fails, His mercies never fail, they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! 'God is my share,' said my soul, therefore I hope in him" (Lamentations 3:22-24).
When our hearts are hurt by the loss we experience, we can find hope in a God who never changes --DCM
