We will not all die, but we will all be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51)
At school, an eight-year-old boy studies plant growth. He was curious about how a small seed growing in the ground could penetrate the soil surface and become a plant in the future.
At the same time, he and his family attended the funeral of a family member. In the service, the pastor preached about the resurrection of our bodies at the end of time.
A few days later, as the family traveled and passed the grave, the boy said, "That's where humans are planted." The seed planted in the ground and the body buried due to death seemed to be related in his young mind.
The apostle Paul also used the illustration of planting seeds to describe death, burial, and resurrection to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 15). He said that even if a Christian's body is buried in the ground, it will one day be raised to new life (verse 42). Our natural body is weak, but our spiritual body will be free from disease, deterioration of physical health, and death (verses 43,44). Our new bodies will be glorified, endowed with strength, and resemble the resurrected body of Jesus.
We look forward to the sounding of the trumpet, the resurrection of those who have died in Christ, and "we shall all be changed" (verse 52). As we look forward to that day, let us spread the good news of our victory over death through Jesus (verses 56,57) -AMC
