SUSTAINED IN SILENCE

When my thoughts increase, your consolation rejoices my soul (Psalm 94:19)

Hudson Taylor (1832-1905) was the founder of the China Inland Mission and a great servant of God. However, following the violent "Boxer" Rebellion of 1900, when hundreds of fellow evangelists were murdered, Taylor's feelings were devastated and his health began to fail. Toward the end of his life, he wrote, "I was so weak that I could not work. I could not read the Bible; I could not even pray. I could only lie still in God's arms like a child and trust Him."

Have you ever experienced body fatigue and heart wounds? Do you find it difficult to focus on God's promises in the Bible? Do you find it difficult to pray? Don't think of yourself as a spiritually outcast. You are joined to a large number of God's children who are having dark nights in their souls.

When we suffer at such times, all we can do, to be precise, all we have to do is lie still like children in the arms of our heavenly Father. There's no need to say anything. A father who gives comfort does not expect his child to speak.
Likewise with Allah. He knows that we need His soothing care.

When troubles come, His lovingkindness will sustain us ( Psalm 94:18). We can trust Him to sustain us through the dark nights in our souls into the breaking dawn -VCG

WHEN ONLY GOD IS LEFT IN US
WE WILL KNOW THAT GOD IS ENOUGH FOR US
