"I DID IT TOO"

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,” and among them I am the most sinful (1Timothy 1:15)

Our friend Barbara Leavitt is very fond of flowers. Her house was like a very beautiful and fragrant garden, so was her life. It comes like a delightful bouquet of flowers.

In 2005, Barbara went away forever to meet God. However, the events that occurred a few days before his death I will never forget. My wife and I were sitting by her bed with some other friends and talking about our childhood. Then I told him that I had stolen several flower stalks. There is a garden between the elementary school where I attended school and our house. One day, as I was walking through the garden, I saw a row of iris flowers growing and picking some stalks for my mother. Several of the older boys saw my actions and threatened to call the police. I was terrified for weeks thinking that they would come and take me away.

Barbara touched my hand and whispered, "I've done that too." I thought that should be my response when I saw or heard someone else's sin, "I did it too." Maybe I didn't commit the same sin, but all of our sins are despicable and need Allah's forgiveness.

According to John Newton, awareness of one's own ugliness is called "the root of eternal gentleness". I don’t want to be like the ungrateful servant in Matthew 18. I want to be kind and show mercy, because “I do it too” -DHR
