REDUCE PRESSURE

Cast all your worries on Him, because He takes care of you (1Peter 5:7)

On May 24, 1883, New Yorkers celebrated the completion of the Brooklyn Bridge, the first bridge to be equipped with steel springs. However, achievements in this field of engineering cannot be completed without sacrifice. In order to lay the giant foundation of the bridge underwater, a very large watertight chamber resembling a "crate" had to be used. People had to work in it for eight hours under incredible air pressure.

When the workers returned to normal atmospheric pressure, they would develop very bad symptoms, hence the name "chest" disease. It was found that the drastic reduction in air pressure caused the release of tiny nitrogen bubbles in the blood. This can reduce oxygen supply leading to nausea, joint pain, paralysis and even death. Today, scientists know that the use of a watertight chamber must be accompanied by a gradual reduction in pressure, thereby preventing nitrogen bubbles from forming in the blood.

We also need a place to reduce the pressure of life. God has provided a way to "reduce spiritual pressure." Personal worship can be a place of lifting various burdens (Mark 1:35-39). It is there that we can cast all our cares on Him (1 Peter 5:7). By focusing on the things God has provided, we can experience His peace (Isaiah 26:3). Do you have a place to relieve spiritual stress? --HDF
