HE DECIDED

Jesus answered him, "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25)

When Walter Bouman, a retired seminary professor, learned that the cancer in his body had spread and he had only nine months to live, he thought things through deeply. One of his thoughts was comedian Johnny Carson's quip: "It's true that a few days after you die, your hair and nails will still grow out, but the phones won't ring anymore." He found humor to be a good tonic, but there was something deeper troubling him.

In Bouman's newspaper column, he wrote of the source who most encouraged him: "The good news for Christians is that Jesus of Nazareth has risen from the dead, and death has no more dominion over Him. I have risked my life, and now I am called to risk my death, namely that Jesus will decide."

In John 11, we read about what Jesus said to Martha, a close friend of His who was grieving over the death of her brother. He said, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even though he is dead, he will live" (verses 25,26).

For each "today" that is given to us, and for the "tomorrow" that is sure to come, we need not feel fear. Jesus Christ will join all those who put their trust in Him, and He will decide our life and death -DCM

BECAUSE JESUS HAS RISE FROM THE DEATH
HE IS THE RIGHT TO DECIDE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH
