If You, O Lord, remember the wrongs, Lord, who can endure? (Psalm 130:3)
From the deep pit", the psalmist cried out to God (Psalm 130:1). Then, the problem was presented, which was an extraordinary feeling of guilt because of the various things he had done and not done in the past. "If You, O Lord, remember -remember the mistakes, Lord, who can endure?" (verse 3).
However, praise God, God forgives. He does not keep a record of past sins, no matter how many or how sad those sins are. "So now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1). God's forgiveness makes us fear Him (Psalm 130:4). We worship and glorify God, because of the grace and forgiveness that makes us love Him more.
However, what if we slip back into old sins? What if the sin still exists? We must repent and "wait on the Lord" (Psalm 130:5). And, be patient while God is working. We are not hopelessly sick people. We can "hope" to the One who will release us according to His timing.
We know these two certainties: God's love never fails, namely that He will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). And, God's promise of total redemption will take place in due time -- He will redeem us from all our transgressions (Psalm 130:8), then bring us into His glory without spot and full of joy (Jude 24).
We are forgiven! We are free! Together with the psalmist, let's worship God while waiting for His coming -- DHR
