STUNNING SINCERITY

But I live in sincerity; set me free and have mercy on me (Psalm 26:11)

In June 1994, 62,000 people gathered at the Hoosier Dome, Indianapolis, for an event known as Promise Keepers. The purpose of this meeting is to challenge people to show sincerity in accordance with the principles of godly living found in the Bible. One report stated that the participants were immediately confronted with a problem that tested the realization of their promise.

During break time, all the aisles of the food stalls were filled with many people. A seemingly hungry man faithfully queued up to buy a hot dog. However, when he managed to buy and walk out of line, he realized that the hot dog had no sauce. Without hesitation, he handed his hot dogs to the people who were up front for sauces.

A lady selling snacks laughed sarcastically and said, "Sir, you will never receive that hot dog again." "That's not true," someone replied. "They are Christians." Moments later, he received the hot dog back, complete with sauce.

Sincerity like that is very hard to find nowadays. In an age where expenses are increasing, sincerity is also fading.

David was determined to live in sincerity (Psalm 26:11). He was able to do so because he believed that God would help him (Psalm 26:1-2). We should also do the same. Let people be mesmerized by our sincerity -- even for something as trivial as a hot dog -- JDB

SINCERITY IS A REFLECTION OF THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST IN REAL ACTIONS
