There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is towards death (Proverbs 14:12)
An anesthesiologist controls a mixture of oxygen and gas administered to a patient at a New York hospital. When one of the tubes connected to the patient was empty, the doctor then replaced it with another tube which clearly said "Oxygen." But in an instant, the patient died.
The autopsy results showed carbon dioxide gas poisoning. Upon careful inspection it was discovered that the replacement cylinder contained carbon dioxide gas and had been incorrectly labeled.
The gas company denies any wrongdoing. No one knows how this fatal mistake could have gone unnoticed.
Luckily this kind of error doesn't happen that often. But in the spiritual life, mistakes like this happen almost all the time. When it comes to salvation, many people will say: "As long as I live earnestly, I will definitely survive." They believe that they will reach heaven by all their good deeds; yet, however straight the road may seem, it is "to death in its end" (Proverbs 14:12). Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
Don't err on the side of being serious about something that's actually wrong! Realize your sins, confess them before God and ask Jesus to save you right now -- HGB
