WELCOME TO THE EDGE

Lead me to walk in Your righteousness and teach me, for You are the God who saves me, I wait for You all day long (Psalm 25:5)

What is it that has been able to sail the seas for years before finally reaching the shore and growing? According to a National Geographics article in World magazine, this extraordinary object is a nut native to South America and the West Indies. People call these objects "heart of the sea".

These colored bean seeds measuring 0.8 cm are heart-shaped. It withstands all kinds of weather, and grows on tall vines. The seeds often fall into rivers and float to the ocean. The seeds have been wading through the seas for years before finally reaching the shore and growing into plants.

This seed that is strong, able to endure, and can master the flow represents a basic spiritual principle. It may take a long wait to get the fulfillment of God's plan for us. In fact, Noah had to endure 120 years of ridicule while building a ship to withstand the great flood. Abraham waited for the fulfillment of God's promise that he would be blessed with children at his old age. David, God's anointed man, chose to wait for God's timing rather than kill jealous King Saul.

“Heart of the sea” cannot choose to be patient, but we can. There is nothing more difficult and better for us than to follow the example of David who wrote Psalm 25. By waiting on God, we will gain peace, and our faith will be able to grow, especially when we have reached the edge --Mart De Haan II
