Whoever welcomes a child like this in my name welcomes me (Matthew 18:5)
Street children roaming the streets of big cities are often referred to as "social hazards." They are called that because their job is begging, stealing, selling bodies; and if they survive, they will grow into big baddies. In order to deal with this "social cancer", unscrupulous business leaders in some cities have even hired people to massacre them. Imagine! Slaughtering street children because they are considered a social problem!
How could children made in God's image be considered a social hazard? Every child is precious in God's eyes. Christ had suffered and died for them at Calvary, and they needed to hear the good news of God's grace!
We must go beyond compassion. We must support and pray for the organizations that are struggling to defuse this enormous problem. We must ask God to fill our hearts with love, so that we are able to meet the needs of such children in our own cities. Thus, we have practiced “pure and unblemished worship,” which cares for children in need (James 1:27).
