SEARCHING FOR IMMORTALITY

As long as we are in this tabernacle, we groan, because we long to put on the heavenly abode (2 Corinthians 5:2)

There are at least a dozen multimillionaires who have left money to themselves because they wanted to be brought back to life after death. The immortal seekers had planned to be cryogenically frozen after they died, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. They have also put their fortune in a "personal resurrection fund," which they believe will return to them when scientists revive them in the future.

Even so, even if resurrection is possible, seeking eternal life outside of the eternal One is like chasing an elusive dream.

Paul asserts that only God is the source of immortality (1 Timothy 6:16). His character and actions are eternal. However, for mankind, death is universal, inevitable, and ultimately leads to judgment (Hebrews 9:27). These are all the consequences of our sin, which can only be overcome by redemption through Jesus Christ (John 3:15,16). Through His resurrection, Jesus has broken the power of death and shown mankind the way to immortality (2 Timothy 1:10).

In responding to death, we don't need to cryogenically preserve our physical bodies, but rather prepare to face our death by receiving the gift of eternal life in Jesus --MW

For further pondering:

Right now you can be sure that you get eternal life. admit that you sinned and that Jesus died in your place so that you would be forgiven and have eternal life.

WHERE WILL YOU SPEND ETERNITY?
