GIVING WITH JOY

God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7)

A pastor wants to know whether a farmer member of his congregation is willingto support God's work or not. One day he challenged the farmer with several questions. "If you had two farms," asked the pastor, "would you give one of them to God?" "Of course!" replied the farmer. "I wish I could do that right now."

The pastor then asked, "If you have 30 million rupiah, would you give 15 million rupiah to God?" Without hesitation the farmer replied, "I really wish I had that much money! I would be very happy to give generously."

Then the priest asked a sharp question: "If you had two pigs, would you give one to the church?" The farmer hesitated for a moment and suddenly said, "This isn't fair. You know I have two pigs!"

Talking about giving generously is very easy when you have little to give. But when the collection bag goes into action, some Christians reluctantly put in as little money as possible. God certainly disapproves of this attitude! 2 Corinthians 9:7 advises us not to give "reluctantly or under compulsion."

Because God has given us blessings, let us return some to Him with wisdom, full of awareness, and a happy heart. Remember, God loves those who give with joy! [RWD]

THE BEST GIVING COMES FROM THE DEEP OF THE HEART
