WHEN THINGS BECOME BAD

For the Lord was with him and whatever he did the Lord made it successful (Genesis 39:23)

Have you ever experienced that when you do something right, things get worse? Does it show that you are a bad person? Does that mean God rejects you?

Perhaps Joseph also had similar questions throughout the events recorded in Genesis 39. The problem started when he was sold into slavery by his brothers. Since then, although he has behaved very well, but the problem continues to follow him. For example, although Joseph maintained his integrity, he was accused of serious crimes against Potiphar's wife, his employer.

Potiphar responded by putting Joseph in prison. Joseph, a good man, honest, trusting in God, languishes in an Egyptian prison. Why didn't God release him? Why isn't the truth confirmed? Don't things really seem unfair?

For some time nothing happened to Yusuf. However, what is important here is, "The Lord was with Joseph" (39:21). God was carrying out His plan, and Joseph had to stay in the Egyptian prison for a while. What seems bad is actually good, because it is part of God's perfect plan.

Are there things that you feel are not working properly? Make sure that you are doing what is right. Obey Allah and stay close to Him. Then, be quiet and watch how He works out His perfect plan! -- JDB
