BECOME A HABIT

Be strong by the grace in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 2:1)

There is a story about an old man who retired after many years in the British Army. One day, a man who knows about the history of his long and special military career, intends to prank him. As the old man walked away with his hands full of luggage, the prankster sneaked up behind him and shouted, "Attention!" Without hesitation, the old man immediately put his hands together beside his body in a ready position. As a result, all his belongings fell on the sidewalk. Unknowingly, the veteran made a move that had become a habit in the military world.

Likewise, as followers of Christ, we should respond to things in a way that fits our new life. Our behavior must be more in line with the example of Jesus' life. We are definitely still dealing with sinful desires, therefore we need to discipline ourselves to become the person God wants us to be. Just as soldiers or athletes train (2 Timothy 2:3-5), we too need to practice over and over again until we get used to doing it right.

Through faith in Christ, we are children of our heavenly Father. With the power of the indwelling Spirit, let us develop the habit of obeying God's Word. Then in every situation of life, we will realize more and more that obeying Him means getting used to doing His will right --RWD

WHEN WE WALK WITH CHRIST
WE WILL BECOME MORE LIKE HIM
