TWO STATEMENTS

Thieves come only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10)

How sad it is when a family sees their child leave the faith that has been held since childhood. And what's even worse is seeing sadness replace the joy that the child once had.

A woman sees her daughter abandon a loving and trustworthy God, then turn to a life of sin and rebellion. But then the boy returned to the road full of joy with Jesus. The expression of sorrow and frustration he radiated as he turned away from God turned into a joy that seemed clear and full of joy as he returned to communion with Him. The mother said that the change was like turning on a lamp that dispelled the darkness.

In John 10:10, we read the difference between the joys of living with Jesus and the anxiety of living with Satan. Satan deceptively comes as an “angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:4), but he wants to destroy us. He is depicted as a thief who steals, kills, and destroys. On the other hand, Jesus is presented as the One who gives life, that is, life is full of abundance.

These two statements are constantly at war to win our hearts. We have a choice: the light of living with Jesus or the valley of darkness in the wiles of the devil. Live or die? Light or dark? Satisfaction or anxiety? Both of us are fighting.

Who do you choose for your life? Thief or Savior? --Dave Branon
