THE ABSOLUTE GOD

I, the Lord, do not change (Malachi 3: 6)

I doubt the accuracy of the scales located in our bathroom. Because of that I have learned to manipulate it in my own way. I can fiddle with the little dial on the side of the scale, and if that's too difficult, I just tilt it in a certain direction. The goal is to get a good number—hopefully a few pounds off.

We live in an age where many people believe that nothing is absolute. Self-serving is rampant and tramples on the moral law given for the protection of society. Our culture prides itself on “freedom” which is really slavery from sin (Romans 6:16,17).

But there is an absolute God and His scales are always right. With Him, a kilo is a kilo, right is right, and wrong is wrong. He said, "I, the Lord, do not change" (Malachi 3:6).

For us as believers, it is like steel that becomes our spiritual backbone. We gain confidence in the face of adversity and gain confidence in the fulfillment of every divine promise.

If God can easily change his mind, then our eternal life will always be in a dangerous situation. However, because He is the Unchanging Person, we "shall not perish" (verse 6). "His mercy is everlasting; it is new every morning" (Lamentations 3: 22,23) —PRVG
