Behold, the tabernacle of God is in the midst of men, and he will dwell with them (Revelation 21:3)
Cartoonists often depict people going to heaven wearing white robes, hovering like ghosts through the clouds, or sitting on golden chairs playing the harp.
How much different that picture from the picture we find in the Bible. In 1 Corinthians 15, we read that our resurrected bodies, which death cannot destroy, will appear real and tangible; not like a ghost. Revelation 21:1-5 also tells us that God will create "a new heaven and a new earth". He will create "the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem" (Hebrews 12:22) and place it on the new earth as the "New Jerusalem". In the city described there are many roads, walls, gates, there is even a river and trees (Revelation 22:1-5). Life in that city would one day be pleasant, free from the debilitating effects of sin. There will be no more death, sorrow, sorrow, and suffering, because God will make "all things new." But more than that, He Himself will come to live among us so that we can have a close relationship with Him.
It's really hard for us to imagine. But isn't that an exciting future? Everything is possible because of the work of Jesus when he died on the cross for us. This should motivate us to worship Him, live godly lives, and tell others that they too can have a guaranteed glorious future -- Herb Vander Lugt
