How could I commit this great crime and sin against God? (Genesis 39:9)
Several online dictionaries report the most searched-for words on their sites each year. For 2005, the most popular words were refugee, pandemic, tsunami, and dike. Due to the various calamities that occurred in the world that year, we can easily understand why people searched for those words.
The most searched word in the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary that year was integrity. The definition given by the dictionary is: "stubborn adherence to a code of conduct, especially those of moral or artistic value". The word is used to describe people who are not willing to be bribed or morally corrupted. Why is that word at the very top? Is it possible that integrity is so rarely found, that many people don't know what integrity looks like in one's life?
Through His word, God gives us an example of integrity in the life of Joseph. Potiphar had given him authority “in his house and over all that he had” (Genesis 39: 5). When he was invited to commit fornication by his master's wife, Joseph refused. He said, "How could I commit this great evil and sin against God?" (verse 9). He knew the standards set by God, and he chose to defend the truth, even if for that he had to sacrifice his freedom.
Integrity -- look for that word in Genesis 39. Then do it with the power of God --AMC
THERE IS NO LEGACY AS RICH AS INTEGRITY
