WHEN EVERYTHING LOOK BEAUTIFUL

Be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage (Deuteronomy 6:12).

To many people, life seems like fun. Their work was successful. The house or apartment does not need repair. There is a surplus in their bank account. Healthy and happy family. Friends are loyal.

However, good times can be dangerous. At such times, worldly comforts and pleasures can be so important that we don't give God much space in our minds. Welfare can soon become a measure of life satisfaction.

God knows that such things can happen to His children when they enter the Promised Land. Therefore, He reminded them not to forget the source of all the gifts they received (Deuteronomy 6:12). He gave clear orders for them to:

o fear of God (verse 13);
o serve Him (verse 13);
o not turning to other gods (verse 14);
o not tempt God (verse 16);
o keep His commandments (verse 17); and
o do what is good and right (verse 18)
.
Historians have said that the impetus for faith usually declines in times of prosperity. However, that need not happen to us if we learn from the experience of the Israelites and obey His commands.

Let us always remember God, especially when all feels beautiful --HVL

WELFARE CAN BE
A BETTER CHARACTER TESTING TOOL THAN POVERTY
