LET'S REST

Come to a secluded place, that we may be alone, and rest a while (Mark 6:31)

According to a story passed down through generations, when the Apostle John was a foreman in Ephesus, he had a hobby of flying doves. Once, an elder passed by his house when he came home from hunting and saw John playing with one of his doves. This elder gently rebuked him for wasting time on pointless things.

Then John saw the hunter's bow and said that the string was loose. “Yes,” replied the elder, “I always loosen my bowstring when not in use. If left tight, this rope will lose its spring power and could thwart my hunt.”

John replied, "I too am now loosening the bow of my mind so that I can better launch the arrow of Divine truth."

We cannot do our work optimally if our nerves are tense and feel lethargic because of constant pressure. When Jesus' disciples returned from a grueling teaching mission, God knew they needed rest. So He took them with Him to find a quiet place where they could be refreshed (Mark 6:31).

Hobbies, vacations, and healthy recreation are vital to a balanced holy life. We will lose effectiveness if we continue to strive for strict discipline so that we are always tense. If we can't seem to relax, Jesus may invite us to rest-to “a quiet place … and rest” -DJD

IF CHRISTIANS DON'T STOP AND REST
MAYBE THEY ARE ACTUALLY DESTROYED !
