That he, according to the riches of his glory, may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man (Ephesians 3:16)
One afternoon Dana and Rich went outside for a bike ride in the hopes of returning home refreshed. Instead, from that afternoon their lives changed forever. While cycling down the hill, Rich loses control and gets into an accident. His body was badly injured and he was taken to the hospital in a barely salvageable state.
Dana faithfully stood by her husband. Her husband could not feed himself and could not walk. One day, as the two were sitting under a tree outside the hospital, Rich turned to his wife and said, "Dana, I don't know if I'll ever be able to walk again, but I'm learning to walk closer to Jesus, and that's the truth. -I really want it." Instead of being angry with God, Rich reached out to reach His hand.
Sometimes in the midst of life's trials, we need to think about people like Rich to help us change our perspective, which is to remind us of our wonderful relationship with God through Jesus Christ. This kind of relationship is what we need most when we enter life's toughest journey.
We are not prepared to face all the obstacles, but God is ready to sustain us. Therefore, He asks us to cast all our matters upon Him, to cast "your cares upon the Lord" (Psalm 55:23). As Rich found, walking with Jesus does not depend on our feet, but on our hearts --JDB
