Husbands, love your wives (Ephesians 5:25)
In September 2006, the world was shocked by the news of the death of Steve Irwin, the "Crocodile Hunter -- Discovery Channel". His enthusiasm for life and God's creatures was very influential, and made him a favorite character around the world.
Shortly after Steve's death, Terri, his wife, was interviewed by the media. Her love for Steve was evident through her tearful words, "I have lost my prince." What a touching way of remembering the husband indeed! He saw Steve as a prince and his best friend.
In this day and age the relationship between husband and wife is rarely seen as a loving relationship as Terri and Steve had. We often see that bitterness, humiliation, and resentment that appear in the media are taken for granted. In fact, we much more hope to see true love -- to see a husband who respects his wife without feeling ashamed and becomes a "prince" for his wife without being selfish.
How can a husband always love his wife and treat her like a daughter? Try the following suggestions: Listen-enjoy loving moments when your wife pours out her heart without fear. Love life - find ways to add joy to your marriage. Guide spiritually - be a guide in prayer and intimate fellowship with God.
O men, be a prince to the princess by your side! --JDB
