GOOD HUSBAND

Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25)

In the early days of their marriage, a well-known preacher named WE Sangster (1900-1960) said to his wife, I cannot be a husband and a good pastor. I want to be a good pastor.

Sangster was asked a lot to be a preacher and teacher. He also often travels leaving his family to become a speaker. When at home, he rarely takes his wife out to dinner or enjoys nightly entertainment. He didn't even help with the housework. His son noticed this failure, but with no less respect for his father, he wrote, If a good husband is one who loves his wife absolutely ... and is devoted to something greater than either of them, then my father's virtue as a pastor was truly nothing better than his kindness as a husband.

Sangster is loyal to his wife. However, I believe he would make a good husband and pastor if he cared more about his wife's needs than his busy schedule.

Many people who hold important positions have many demands, which are sometimes unavoidable. But if a Christian husband takes Paul's command seriously to love his wife as Christ loved the church, he will surely find a way to give himself to his wife, even in small things. That's how Christ, our example, loves His church HVL
