WITH THE INTENTION OF

Because glory comes from God who is the Spirit, we are being transformed into the image of [Christ], in ever-increasing glory (2 Corinthians 3:18)

Rick Warren's book The Purpose-Driven Life has surprisingly long lasted on the bestseller lists. This phenomenal move reminds us that believers and non-believers actually have the same longing to know a clear purpose in life. We all want to know if we are living a meaningful life. This life only becomes a routine if there is no strong understanding of the calling and purpose of life.

By becoming followers of Jesus, we gain the real advantage of having confidence in the purpose of life. The Westminster Catechism summed it up well when it stated that the "prime end of man" is "to glorify God and enjoy him forever".

Glorifying God means manifesting His character, will, and ways in all we do. Paul reminds us that "because glory comes from God who is the Spirit, we are being changed into the image of [Christ], with ever-increasing glory" (2 Corinthians 3:18). We have a purpose in life for our neighbors to see what God is like, when they observe and experience His love through us.

Truly, it is a great honor to reflect God's love, mercy, justice, and truth to the world whose hearts are "closed" to God's truth! (4:3,4). The purpose of our lives is to show the world how small we are and how great He is. That's life based on a purpose! --JMS

May our tongues and lives reveal
the holy gospel we believe,
May our speech and virtue shine
To prove that all teachings come from God. --Watts
