WALK FOR HEALTH

But if we live in the light as He is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another (1John 1:7)

Exercise can help us--to prevent colds and infections. The theory is that regular and good exercise puts our body in a state similar to that which occurs when a fever attack comes. It's not all bad.

Fever is the body's way of fighting off invading micro-organisms that enter our body system. Increased body temperature helps the defense system of white blood cells in our body and slows down the movement of bacteria and viruses. Sport has the same function. Exercise releases chemicals into the blood, which stimulate the brain and increase our body temperature.

The first two chapters of 1 John show that good and regular spiritual practice is very beneficial for our mental health. To fend off sin, we must "walk in the light as He is in the light" (1:7) and obey Jesus daily. On the other hand, disobedience weakens our spiritual zeal.

Fellowship with God and other believers is neglected. The existence of sin is not acknowledged, let alone abandoned. If our faith is lukewarm (Revelation 3:16), then we are not utilizing the defense mechanisms needed to fight spiritual infection.

The correct exercise program is an exercise of faith and obedience. This practice is important for spiritual health. Walk with Jesus every day, then you will really walk for your health [MRD II]
