Where is the wise man? Where are the scribes? ... Hasn't God made the wisdom of this world foolish? (1 Corinthians 1:20)
We dig into the Scriptures. The Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and teach us the way to abundant life in this world and eternal life in the world to come. It is true, the Holy Bible is a source of wisdom that exceeds the wisdom of even the wisest philosophers (1 Corinthians 1:20). However, this fact is rarely acknowledged in our culture.
So I was delighted when I read an article written by The New York Times columnist David Brooks that praised biblical wisdom. He praised Martin Luther King Jr. for insight into human nature was obtained from the Scriptures. He feels that King "has a more accurate view of political reality than his more secular liberal contemporaries because he can draw on biblical wisdom about human nature. Religion doesn't just make human rights leaders stronger—it makes them smarter." ". Dan Brooks went on to say, "Biblical wisdom is deeper and more accurate than the wisdom offered by the secular social sciences."
Are we tapping into that source of wisdom in our lives? We need the wisdom of Scripture to deal with our personal and political problems. If we study and obey the Bible, we will be able to humbly testify with the psalmist, "I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies I meditate on" (Psalm 119:99) —VCG
