The city does not need the sun and the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates it (Revelation 21:23)
Once, the University of Colorado's Fiske Planetarium needed funding, so the director invented a witty fundraising ploy. He printed a brochure that offered a plot of land on the planet Mars covering an area of four million square meters for only 20 dollars.
The brochure reads: "This land has pink skies, countless rock gardens, and not one but two months. So peaceful, serene and romantic--even the locals are so friendly." The flyer promises, "With only one-sixth of Earth's gravity, your golf game will be very exciting -- because the ball is six times slower. Mars provides adventure for the whole family." And surprisingly, this brag turned out to be successful. People from all over the country sent in $20 for a title deed, for spaceflight insurance, and for a red sample of Mars.
If this story touches your imagination, then think about our last land, which is heaven. As an expression of His love, God promised the land to those who trusted Jesus as their Savior. This is a true place and God Himself will truly live with His people. There will be no more tears, pain, or death, and its inhabitants will rejoice forever in God's everlasting goodness (Revelation 21:4).
How happy we are to know that God's free offer of a home in heaven is not just an advertising hoax! It might sound too good to be true, but it really isn't. Just too good to pass up [MRDII]
