DO NOT BE SCARED

God is my salvation; I believe without trembling (Isaiah 12: 2)

I have an old-fashioned leaf blower to clean the patio at the back of the house. The engine was coughing, rattling, emitting annoying fumes, and my wife (and possibly neighbors) found it too noisy.

But our old dog didn't care at all about the noise it made. When I turned on the leaf sucker, it didn't even lift its head. It only grunts away when I suck leaves or trash at it. It's because he trusts me.

The young man who occasionally weeded the grass in our yard used the same leaf sucker, but he was not tolerated by our dog. A few years ago, when our dog was a little girl, he harassed her with the machine and my dog has never forgotten her. Now, when the man enters the backyard, we have to lock the dog in the house, because he growls and barks at him. Even though the situation is the same, but the hand that uses the leaf sucker makes it different.

Likewise with ourselves. Scary situations won't bother us if we trust the hands that control them. If the world and our lives are governed by arbitrary and arbitrary forces, we should be afraid. But the hand that controls the universe—the hand of God—is a hand of wisdom and compassion. We can trust Him, whatever the situation that surrounds us and we have nothing to fear —DHR

GOD IS IN CONTROL
SO WE DON'T HAVE TO BE AFRAID
