In you I have relied from the womb .... I will always praise you (Psalm 71: 6)
When we are young, we can't wait to grow up. When we grow old, we reminisce about our youth with longing. However, God wants us to be able to truly enjoy the coming of every age of life. Whatever our age, He gives us what we need to achieve whatever we can achieve. He asks us to account for our lives to Him, and accept the struggles of life that He allows to happen and the strength He provides.
A woman dealing with aging problems asked Bible teacher J. Robertson McQuilkin, “Why does God allow us to grow old and weak?” McQuilkin replied, “I think God has planned that the strength and beauty of youth is physical, but the strength and beauty of old age is spiritual. Gradually we begin to lose our mortal strength and beauty. Then we will concentrate on eternal power and beauty. We become eager to leave mortality, turn off a part of ourselves, and long for our eternal home. If we stay young, strong, and beautiful, maybe we won't want to leave this world."
Are you currently living in your youth? Believe in God's timing in fulfilling your dreams. Are you currently going through middle age or old age? Face the challenges of your life every day. And when you feel discouraged, draw near to God. His presence can make every moment of this life a time full of strength and beauty --Dennis De Haan
