Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17)
A little boy looked at his mother and asked, "Mom, do you know the reason why God created us?"
The mother, knowing that her son had an explanation of his own, instead asked back, "Okay, Justin, do you know the reason?"
"Oh, that's easy. Because the man in the Bible behaved so badly that God wanted to start all over again."
If you think about it carefully, you will know why this little boy could come to such a conclusion. When he listens to Bible stories at Sunday School, he hears stories about Adam and Eve making our lives fall apart, or about Jonah disobeying God and being swallowed by a big fish. He also heard about Judas who betrayed Jesus to get 30 pieces of silver.
The Bible is a sad picture of the human reality. There is no revised edition of the history of God's people. Through various characters presented as they are, the Bible proves that we all need forgiveness for our sins. The Bible's "wicked men" remind us that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
However, there is good news. God has provided a way to "start again". He sent Jesus who was willing to die so that we could be a new creation (2Cor. 5:17). Believe in Jesus and you will be saved from your sins. After that you will be able to "start over" --Dave Branon
