THE ADVISORS

In the multitude of counselors there is safety (Proverbs 11:14)

In October 1962, the world seemed to be holding its breath as the United States and Russia nearly launched nuclear war. At that time, Prime Minister Nikita Khrushchev had sent nuclear bombs to Cuba and President John F. Kennedy ordered that the bombs be destroyed immediately. Tensions became very high at that time.

Kennedy then contacted three former presidents of the United States for their advice. Herbert Hoover who had experienced the economic crisis of the Great Depression; Harry Truman who ended the second World War; and Dwight Eisenhower who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces in Europe. Each has valuable insights to share. After Kennedy conferred with the three White House advisers, he was able to make a fair decision that would eliminate all crises. As a result, war can be avoided.

The Bible encourages us to seek the advice of wise people. Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." The word translated "counsel" is a Hebrew translation for "steering a ship". Wise counsel will lead us in the right direction.

Are you in a crisis? A truly wise person will be open to giving advice and suggestions to others. Don't you pray today for the advice of pious believers? --HDF

IF YOU SEEK WISE ADVICE, THEN YOU DOUBLE YOUR CHANCES TO GET THE RIGHT DECISION
