[Love] does not do anything rude and does not seek its own benefit. He is not short-tempered and does not hold onto the faults of others (1Corinthians 13:5)
A young couple who have just had a child receive a gift for the birth of their baby. They were very grateful for the gift, so the mother took a thank you card, wrote a beautiful message, and was ready to send it.
But somehow, the card got buried in a pile of paperwork and was never delivered. The thanks were forgotten. The gift-giver waited, but no thanks came.
Relationships are strained when one family thinks a thank-you note has been sent, while the other considers no thank you to be disrespectful. Failure to deliver a card leaves the gift giver feeling belittled, unappreciated, and ignored.
Among the many important words, it would be nice if we could convey these two precious words, namely "Thank you". Besides that saying thank you is very important, there is another side that we must pay attention to. If we give gifts to others, we should do so sincerely without expecting anything in return, including a thank you back. True love gives without expecting anything in return.
Love, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4, is "patient and kind" and is never self-seeking. Love never harbors faults, even when someone forgets to thank us for the good we do. The other side of gratitude is a sincere heart that reflects God's perfect love for us --JDB
