UPDATE YOUR CONSCIENCE

That's why I always try to live with a clear conscience before God and men (Acts 24:16)

There is an internal legal system within us, the conscience, which praises when we do right and punishes when we do wrong. However, these very important moral monitoring tools are not the same as one another. In some cultures, killing for revenge is considered an honor. Whereas in other cultures, a person is still considered good even though he has betrayed his friend.

The story obtained from the Philadelphia Investigative Agency can illustrate this point. A 12 year old boy was caught for stealing a watch. He told the police that he had shoplifted an item he was going to gift his mother. And now he is doing the same for his father. Although because of his actions he did not give his father a gift, he did not regret that he had stolen.

Because of sin, the conscience is no longer reliable and needs to be renewed regularly. It starts with a good relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. He paid for our sins, and now our hearts are “cleaned from an evil conscience” (Hebrews 10:22). However, this does not make our conscience obsolete. When we study the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit will make our conscience conform to the words, deeds, and attitudes of the Lord Jesus.

"Let your conscience guide you" is the right statement when the word of God is the guide for your conscience -DJD

CONSCIENCE IS LIKE A SUN CLOCK:
WHEN GOD'S TRUTH SHINES HIM,
THE CLOCK WILL POINT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION
