A RECIPES THAT CAN'T BE WRONG

 If you do this, you will never stumble (2 Peter 1:10)

Like most people who love to cook, I have a favorite recipe; recipe for making delicious banana bread. My mother's recipe never fails as long as you follow the directions. I've given the recipe to a few friends, and most of them have had good results. Indeed, one or two said that they had not succeeded in putting the recipe into practice. Later I found out that they didn't use the recommended ingredients and substituted something else instead.

The Apostle Peter gave us a recipe for a successful Christian life. The two main ingredients provided by God are His divine power (2 Peter 1:3) and His precious promises (verse 4). When we sincerely integrate His power and promises into our faith and life, then we will become more like Christ.

Then Peter wrote a list of ingredients that should be added to our faith: virtue, knowledge, self-control, endurance, godliness, brotherly love, and love for all (verses 5-7). If we include all of these, we will be successful and will never stumble in our accompaniment to God (verse 8). Anyone who does not include these main ingredients is shortsighted, even blind, “for he has forgotten that his former sins have been blotted out” (v. 9).

Don't substitute ingredients that God has prescribed and then blame His recipe when you fail. Instead, follow His commandments diligently. His recipe brings spiritual success [JEY]
