You have turned me who weeps into one who dances (Psalm 30:12
)
After accepting his second Oscar, Denzel Washington said to his family, "Like I said, if I lose tonight, I'm going home and we're going to party. And, if I win tonight, I'm going home and we're going to party. " Denzel, who is a Christian, believes in God, both in success and disappointment.
The Christian couples I know are motivated to follow Denzel's example. The wife applied for a dream position that had just opened at her workplace. The interview went well, but he knew he might not get the position. Her husband suggested, "Let's make reservations at our favorite restaurant this Friday to celebrate, whatever the outcome."
It wasn't long before news came that someone else had taken the job. But on Friday, the disappointed couple celebrated anyway. While enjoying a delicious meal, they counted their blessings and renewed their faith in the God who holds future opportunities in His hands.
When the psalmist counted his blessings, he was lifted from his despair and praised God, saying, "You have turned me who mourned into one who dances" (Psalm 30:12).
Are you facing a situation that makes you feel down? Why don't you have a celebration to count your blessings, regardless of the outcome? --HDF
