THE WAY TO BE FREE

The wicked are caught in their crimes and are entangled in their own sin ropes (Proverbs 5:22)

The human spirit longs for freedom. But for many people, the search for freedom often leads to even stronger bonds.

Bible teacher Henrietta Mears once said to her students, "A bird has freedom in the air. Put a bird in water and it will lose its freedom. A fish has freedom in water, but put it on sand, then he will die.... The Christian has freedom when he does God's will and obeys His commands. This is in his nature, like water to a fish, and air to a bird."

Even though King Solomon did not use the word free in Proverbs 16:1-33, he understood that freedom comes only when we respect God and His word. Instead, bonds will come to those who ignore God's truth. Freedom is the result of humility, paying attention to God's word, speaking sweetly, and self-control (Proverbs 5:19-23). However, it is different from bonds, which whether they want to or not will enslave them, controlled by arrogance, evil, deceit, violence, and deceit (Proverbs 16:18,27-30).

You want to be free? Jesus said, "If you remain in My word, you are truly My disciples and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:31-32). Jesus is the main source of true freedom -- MRD II

TRUE INDEPENDENCE IS NOT OBTAINED BY YOUR OWN EFFORTS BUT BY SURRENDERING TO GOD
