WELL KNOWN

The Lord knows those who are His (2 Timothy 2:19)

Arctic seabirds called guillemots live on the rocky coastal slopes. There thousands of these birds live in groups in a narrow area. Because they live in groups, the females lay their eggs in a row so that the eggs form a long line. What's really amazing is that each female can recognize her egg. Research shows that even if an egg is moved far enough, its owner will find it and bring it back to its original position.

Our heavenly Father certainly knows each of His children better. He knows every thought, emotion, and decision we make. From morning to night, He always gives personal attention to all of our daily matters. Realizing this great fact, the psalmist exclaims in awe, “The knowledge is too wonderful for me, too high, I cannot reach it” (Psalm 139:6).

Things like this not only impel us to lift up praise, but also to give great comfort to our hearts. Jesus also told His disciples that the Father knows when a sparrow falls to the ground. Since humans are so much more important than birds, God's children can be sure that the Father is always watching over them.
