POWER OF LIMITATION

So go, and I will be with your tongue and teach you what you should say (Exodus 4:12)

Moses looked for an excuse when he was called by God. "Ah, Lord, I am not good at speaking, neither have I at first, nor since you spoke to your servant, for I am heavy in my mouth and heavy in tongue" (Exodus 4:10).

From that statement, Moses seems to have had a speech impediment—perhaps he was stuttering. But God said to him, "Who made man's tongue, who made man mute or deaf, made man see or blind; am I not, that is, God?" (verse 11).

Our disability, disability, physical handicap is not an accident. All of this is God's plan. He uses our every imperfection for His glory. God's way of overcoming something we call a "limitation" is not to remove it, but to bless it with strength and use it for good.

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul mentions an undefined "thorn in the flesh." He had repeatedly asked God to take it (2 Corinthians 12: 7,8). But God said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (verse 9).

The Apostle Paul had even learned to "enjoy" the difficulties he faced. "Therefore I would rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me," he said (verse 9). "For if I am weak, then am I strong" (verse 10) —DHR
