ABUNDANT BLESSINGS

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which hath given unto us all spiritual blessings in heaven (Ephesians 1: 3)

When disaster strikes, the community becomes very generous in providing assistance. After the terrorist attacks that occurred in September 2001, New York City was flooded with aid in the form of towels, blankets, flashlights, bottled drinks, canned beans, shovels, toothpaste, canned meat, radios, rubber boots, and thousands of other items. All of the aid was estimated at $75 million. So many items, in the end, not all of them can be used.

It reminded me of what happens when our faith is turned away from Christ, the Savior. We will face personal disaster. The sins we commit put us in danger of being separated from God forever. Our future becomes very dark and hopeless.

Then Jesus came in and offered to help. As we believe in Him, our Father in heaven will pour out His spiritual riches on us. Thus, we receive so many blessings that we may not be able to take full advantage of them. We are members of God's family (Ephesians 1: 5). We have “redemption” and “forgiveness of sins” (verse 7). We are heirs of Him who owns all things (verse 11). All our inherited possessions are sealed by the Holy Spirit (verses 13,14).

Blessings for Christians always abound. There's no end. What a gracious and caring God we serve! Let's praise Him for the many and abundant blessings in our lives --Dave Branon
