FORGIVENESS ONLY

When one has a grudge against another, even as God forgave you, so do you also (Colossians 3:13).

When one has a grudge against another, even as God forgave you, so do you also (Colossians 3:13).

Research by psychologists has shown that what makes people happy is not wealth, but friendship and forgiveness. Marilyn Elisa commented on these findings in USA Today, "The happiest people are surrounded by relatives and friends, have no problems with neighbors, are busy with daily activities, and most importantly, are easy to forgive."

Christopher Peterson, a psychologist from the University of Michigan says that the ability to forgive others is a character that is closely related to happiness. He called her "queen of all virtues, and perhaps the most difficult to achieve".

An unforgiving soul is often the last emotional bastion that we leave in the power of God. Even though we are Christians, we may harbor anger and bitterness, feeling that everyone who wrongs us should suffer for their crimes.

However, if we realize that God has forgiven us a lot, then we must continue that compassion to others. The Bible exhorts us to exercise "mercy, gentleness, meekness, gentleness, and patience, ... even as God forgave you, so also do ye" (Colossians 3: 12,13).

Forgiveness is God's command to us and is part of a life of love, peace, gratitude, and praise (verses 14-16). As we have been freely forgiven, so must we do to one another-David McCasland
