RESPECT FOR OTHERS

The Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10)

To the young Robert, it seemed things were not on his side. She experienced poverty, parental divorce, harsh environment. He often skipped school and was difficult to handle. However, when a friend of his is shot dead, he takes it as a warning. Determined to change his life, Robert works hard to improve his poor grades.

However, his school counselor didn't believe him and said that no college would accept him. However, Robert proved the counselor wrong. He graduated from college and pursued a career in education. He chose that career, because as he put it, "Teachers saw me as a breeze" -- a person of little value. He didn't want the same thing to happen to anyone else.

Everyone is considered important by Jesus. Zacchaeus was a dishonest tax collector (Luke 19:1-10). Jesus could have ignored him, but He saw him in the tree and called his name.

Accepting other people as people of value is important for Christians. Brennan Manning once wrote, "A Christian who doesn't just see, but looks at the person of another person is conveying that he values that person as a person, not just an object."

Do the people we interact with know that we view them as persons of value to us and to God? --AMC
