Don't go astray! God does not allow Himself to be mocked. For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6: 7)
At that time I still looked innocent. I just got home from school and told Mom I was going to a friend's house to play football. Mom insisted that I stay home and do my homework. However, I slipped out the back door and spent the next 2 hours playing football in my friend's backyard. However, in the last game, I was tackled to the ground and broke my front tooth. I was in so much pain, and it hurt even more when I told my parents.
That decision to disobey led me to 10 years of various dental problems and pain whose effects still continue to this day. Baseball player Roy Hobbs said in the film The Natural, "Some mistakes have repercussions that you have to endure for the rest of your life."
Centuries ago, Paul captured a similar understanding of the universal law of sowing and reaping. He said, "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" (Galatians 6: 7). Our decisions often have reach and impact we never imagined. Thus, the words of the Apostle Paul remind us to make wise decisions.
The decisions we take today produce consequences that we will reap tomorrow. It is far better to avoid sin from the beginning than to struggle to overcome the consequences of sin.
O God, we need Your wisdom to help us make the right decision, and Your forgiveness when we make a bad decision --WEC
IS TOMORROW
