The peace of God ... will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7)
I was scheduled to teach at a Bible conference outside the United States and was waiting for a visa to be issued. The visa application was once rejected, and time was running out. Without a visa, I would have lost my opportunity to serve, and my colleagues in the country had to find another speaker at the last minute.
During those stressful days, a coworker asked me how I felt about it. I said I had "peaceful anxiety." When he looked at me with a puzzled look, I explained, "I was worried because I needed the visa but couldn't do anything about it. However, I have great peace because I know that, no matter what happens, I will not right to change things!"
Knowing that such things are in God's hands is a relief. My inability to do anything about the problem not only made me believe in God, who is able to make all things possible. When I prayed for the situation, my anxiety was replaced by His peace (Philippians 4:6,7) .
Life's problems can weigh us down—physically, emotionally and spiritually. However, when we learn to trust God's providence, then we can have a peace that not only transcends all understanding, but also overcomes our anxieties. We can feel calm, because we are in God's hands -WEC
