HELP!

God is for us a refuge and strength, a help that is readily to be found during distresses (Psalm 46: 2)

People should only call 911 in an emergency, but it turns out that many people don't understand or don't follow the rules. Police emergency call operators in Colorado Springs have received calls from people who reported televisions not turning on, asking when the snow would stop falling, and wanting to report abuse of identity but not giving their names.

I often wonder if our prayers for help don't sound serious to God. We may not know it, but there is one thing we are sure of: When we are in need, God not only hears our cry, but He is also with us.

Psalm 46 describes times of disaster, including wars and natural disasters. However, the psalm is also a song of faith that begins and ends with the same affirmation: "God is for us a refuge and strength, a helper in times of trouble .... The Lord of hosts is with us, our stronghold is the God of Jacob" (verse 2.12).

God always works to accomplish His purposes, even when the world looks chaotic. He says to us, "Be still and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, exalted in the earth!" (verse 11).

We no longer need to be afraid. When we ask for help, we know that He hears and will come near --DCM

GOD'S HELP IS JUST AS FAR AS PRAYER!
